Pinging in 4.8l chev vortec engine?

Your problem most likely is the knock sensor. Change it and it should solve your problem. I changed a customer's knock sensor on his 1999 Silverado two weeks ago because he was having the same problem as you. He said this was the first time in 2 years his truck didn't knock.
