Why doesn't Bacon Bits use REAL bacon? It's flavored with it, right?

I was looking on the back of a bottle of Bacon Bits and it says that it has "natural and artificial flavors". Ooookay... I can understand the "artificial flavor" part... but where is the "natural flavor" coming from? Do they just flavor the little bits with the bacon and just eat the scraps later? STINGY! Why not just use real bacon? It's like flavoring imitation crab meat with real crab. What's the f*cking point?
