Since you are both pretty recently single, I would bring it up in that context. That way he will know your feelings and you won't have to make awkward umptions about his motives. Some time when the two of you are chatting, just bring up how great it is to be single. Then mention that you are going to take your time before you get into anything serious again. Just work it casually into conversation and it won't seem weird or presumptuous.
