Does God repent?

He changed His mind and perhaps it means He regretted like in Genesis 6:6 as my version says was sorry. That was something I hadn't studied before. He can change His mind. I knew that but I'd be interested to know what translation you are using as mine says nothing of God visiting evil but says withheld calamity He had planned to visit. But He does and has changed His mind before.
