Wayward Cave Pokemon Diamond: HELP!?

How does someone exit that cave after finding Mira and fighting all the Trainers? My fiance and stepson are hopelessly lost. Everyone online keeps saying "exit the way you came in" but they are so turned around, that advice is not helpful. lol
